REPENTANCE pt. 2

Day 4 of 12-Day Devotions | 6 May | Ps. Paul Magno

The premise and assertion of United Prayer is simple and straightforward: if God’s people fulfill His requirements for Revival, He will move according to His promise. This assertion is based on a direct reading and plain interpretation of passages like 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Joel 2:12-17.

Revival is not complicated, it’s simple. But Revival is not easy even in its simplicity, because the foundational requirements for Revival do not occur naturally in the human heart. In both the 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Joel 2:12ff passages, the common requirements of humility and repentance are present. The divine summons to repent and be humble are not for the unsaved world to respond to but to the called out ekklesia, the church of Jesus Christ. But even ekklesia of believers and church leaders, humility and repentance can be difficult to develop and express. Nevertheless, these two issues are critical to the birthing of Revival, including the spread of its influence and the span of its longevity.

A key and crucial aim of United Prayer Gatherings is to position God’s people in humility and repentance, without which Revival is impossible. According to Joel 2, this expression of repentance and humility was meant to be led by the leaders and shepherds of God’s people. Joel 2:17 expressly says, “Let the priests who minister before the Lord weep between the portico and the altar.” If you’re a church leader reading this, there is nothing more precious in our ministry and pursuit of Revival than this task.

PRAY THIS:
Heavenly Father, I take on today the posture of humility and repentance. Your Word is clear, “You resist the proud and give grace to the humble” (James 4:6; Proverbs 3:34). We long for the day when Your united Bride and Body gather in our city for extraordinary prayer, not to boast of our achievements before You but to humble ourselves before Your mighty hand so that in due time You may exalt us with the fire of Revival. Today, as an intercessor, I posture my heart and my will with humility. Pour out Revival on our nation and turn Australia back to You. In Jesus' Name, amen.
